With the onset of digital imaging in the
forefront of photographic imaging today, the Camera Club of the
Philippines presents its finest work ever with more radiant colors, more
depth in Black and White, acute sharpness, drama, emotion and style.

Now with over a hundred members strong,
the Club in 2007 has been transfused with a new wealth of passion
brought by a new breed of photographic imagers eager to alter the Club’s
creative landscape with their global exposure to the ever advancing
multi-media and technology-driven digital age. Yet with all these
tongue-tying cyber-speak and mind-boggling technology, all this output
comes from one main central processing unit: The Human Mind. Or if I may
be more particular, the mind of a Camera Club Member of the
Philippines. With a membership encompassing 3 active generations
whose professions vary as much as their age, creative endeavors stoke
the fire to come out with their best work every month of the year with 5
On-The-Spot (OTS) competitions that ultimately puts both artist and
technology to the outer limits of the creative envelope.
These OTS shoot-outs that pit members to
shoot under time pressure in the same locale and environment are now
akin to, say, Triathlons and Formula One racing in the sense that
multiple skills and tasking, physical as well as mental endurance,
course knowledge and foresight, as well as mastery of one’s machine are
required to keep those creative juices flowing. Just like our cameras,
these stresses keep us sharp and focused where we have to be to elicit
our so called “culture and realm of creativity and camaraderie”.
Not to mention the fact that we constantly remain as proud ambassadors
to our Club and to our country (especially when we travel to remote
areas or abroad) with our positive, progressive and warm Filipino
heritage and outlook while promoting tourism through our photographs
that depict local landscape and life. Luck seems to play less and less
a factor now. Today, it has been replaced with a deliberate style and
methodology which enables one to remain alert to his or her creative
technique and imaging objective.
On display for the first time ever for the
public to see is a glimpse, albeit an entire year’s worth of work and
accomplishment, of what the Camera Club of the Philippines can produce
in one year. At the Activity Center on the 2nd floor of the
PODIUM in from December 10th to the 15th are the
winning entries of 2007 by members of the Club. These are composed of 9
monthly competitions, 5 OTS competitions and 4 best of the Year
categories: Black and White, Color Print, On-The-Spot Competitions, and
Single Shot Color Print competition (which means no major photo shop
manipulation).
